Part of the reason for the increased demand of long-haul holidays is down to the recent review of the travel sector. Places that have previously been considered as luxury destinations, such as Egypt and Dubai, have become far more affordable in the last year. Niel Alobaidi, the commercial director of the holiday operator Hayes and Jarvis, said that this year could be the first time a long-haul trip was “cheaper than a European trip.”
