UK Credit Cards: Excellent Credit Score
Credit Cards for those with Excellent Credit Score. For those with an excellent credit rating the choice of credit cards is limited only by your imagination. By definition, if you have excellent credit, you could of course apply for any of the cards we list - even those for sub-prime borrowers. However, the cards we list on this page are exclusively for those who have an excellent credit rating. If you're not sure what your credit rating is, then a good idea would be to check your credit score before applying for any of these cards, lest a rejected application affect other credit card applications. Nonetheless, to be eligible for these cards, you can be sure that your credit history will not show any current CCJ (County Court Judgement) activity, defaulted loans or mortgages, or any other type of bad credit history, as lenders looking for customers with excellent credit will be unlikely to accomodate you for these cards.
While it would be nice to think that credit card companies might reward your good credit rating with a super-low APR, it's a mistake to think they will oblige you. However, these cards do offer far better APR's than if you had poor credit, and also offer a range of handy benefits that most cardholders can only aspire to.
The American Express
Card is not your typical credit card, and offers many benefits which the usual run-of-the-mill cards do not. However, to be more accurate, the American Express
Card (Green) is a charge card, as opposed to a credit card. So, rather than paying interest on a balance each month, you are required to settle the balance each month; you therefore do not carry a balance and do not accumulate interest charges. You do, of course, need to be sure that you only spend up to a limit which you know you can pay off at the end of the month, otherwise you'll end up with late fees, etc.
The American Express
Platinum Business Cashback Card provides all the benefits and features you'd expect from an American Express
platinum card, but with this card your business can also take advantage of the savings and offers. A true credit card, as opposed to a charge card, there is a low annual fee for this card (lower than most other cards), you will receive up to 5% cash back on your spending up to £4000 for first 3 months, and even subsequent to that you'll receive 2% on almost every type of purchase. You'll also make big savings at companies such as Hertz and Crown Plaza, and with numerous other business expenses.
The American Express
Platinum Charge Card is more than a cut above most other types of card, and provides a range of benefits that most card-holders can only wish for. For example, you will enjoy extensive travel and lifestyle benefits, lots of special offers and also travel advice and assistance when you need it. You can also enjoy airport lounge access and often, where available, upgrades and even special fares. Additionally, with the American Express
Membership Rewards programme, most times you use your card, you'll accumulate points, which you can collect and later redeem for a variety of rewards.
The American Express Nectar for Business Credit Card
has a fairly self-explanatory name and, as you might guess, is a credit card for business use, and one which also earns Nectar points. In fact, with the ability to earn 4 Nectar points on every £1 you spend at participating sponsors, there's rarely been a quicker way to collect Nectar rewards on your business purchases. Many big-name companies are sponsors (BP, Viking Direct, and Hertz, to name but a few), and so if you make regular purchases for your business by credit card, then this particular card is an ideal partner for you.
With the American Express
Platinum Cashback credit card, every time you use your card, it will reward you with cash back, to spend exactly how you choose. Right now American Express
is offering an introductory 5% cashback incentive for the first three months. In fact, the Platinum Cashback credit card boasts one of the highest introductory cashback rates on the market, and there is also no annual fee. The online application takes just a few minutes, and you'll get an almost instant decision regarding your application's success within 60 seconds.
With its minimum
of £15,000 credit limit you can guess that the NatWest Black Credit Card is a shade different to most other credit cards. However, although you don't need to be super-rich to apply for this exclusive credit card, the NatWest Black Card is typically available only to UK residents aged 25 years or more and who manage to scrape by on an annual income of £75,000 or more. However, fear not if your income (like most) happens to be below this, as your application may still be accepted so long as NatWest are happy you can repay the minimum £15,000 credit limit.
One of several cards from NatWest, the NatWest Platinum Credit Card is open only to existing NatWest customers, and the offer as described on the NatWest website is only available for application online (i.e. you can't apply for the same offer by post, for example). Although providing a similar APR to the NatWest Classic Credit Card, the NatWest Platinum card does offer a few extra bells and whistles, and if you happen to be NatWest Advantage Gold customer then you are also guaranteed a 1% discount on the APR for which you qualify, for at least twelve months.
With a minimum
£15,000 credit limit you can guess that the Royal Bank of Scotland
Black Credit Card is not your average, everyday credit card. However, although there are, of course, a few criteria, you don't need to be super-rich to apply for this exclusive RBS credit card. Although, the RBS Black Card is generally available only to UK residents aged 25 and older, and who enjoy an annual income of £75,000 or more, if your income happens to be below this, your application may still be accepted so long as RBS are happy you can accommodate the £15,000 credit limit.
