Equifax Credit Rating Service

Equifax Personal Credit Solutions Official Website: Equifax Personal Credit Solutions

With your Equifax Credit Rating you get to see your actual credit score, which is probably the single most important piece of information used by lenders to qualify you for credit; purchase of your Equifax Credit Rating also includes your Equifax Credit Report. Your personal credit rating often determines not only whether you receive credit at all, but also the amount of the loan you qualify for and the interest rate you receive it at. So if you are hoping to secure some type of credit or a loan, it makes good sense to begin by finding out how the lender sees you. Online Application

Based upon the information in your personal credit file, a credit reference agency analyses your financial information by using a rather complicated mathematical model to yield your credit rating. Why this matters is that most credit scores estimate the risk that a company will incur by extending credit to you, or providing you with a service; more specifically, your credit score gives a good indication of the likelihood that you'll fail to make payments in the near to short term.

As you might guess, the higher your credit score, the less of a risk you represent to the potential lender, and it's more likely that you have a good track record of paying your bills on time and not defaulting on your financial obligations. Conversely, a lower credit score means (to a lender) that you represent a greater risk. So, a high credit rating = good; a low credit rating = not so good.

As you'll note from the information above, and from various other websites, the terms credit score and credit rating are generally used interchangeably, and essentially mean the same thing. So, no need to be confused.

Your Equifax Credit Rating Provides:
  • Instant access to your Equifax Credit Rating and Equifax Credit Report online
  • Risk Signals that highlight the impact of key information in your file
  • An explanation of your score to help you understand how lenders view your credit history
  • Specific tips on how to improve your personal credit rating
  • Helpful links between your credit rating and your report to give you a clearer understanding of both
  • Access to Customer Care, available 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Access a snapshot of your rating and report for 30 days *

* The snapshot of your credit report, as mentioned above, is a snapshot per the date you created the original credit report. i.e. the report does not update during the course of the 30 days, although you are, of course, always free to request a new report at any time.

If you're already aware of the Equifax Credit Report product, then the Equifax Credit Rating product is essentially the same product, but with the addition of your credit score. However, the Equifax Credit Rating product does therefore cost just a small amount more (usually no more than three or four pounds) than the Equifax Credit Report on its own.
